Moving to Austin

If you are planning or just thinking about moving to Austin, you might be wondering ?where do I start??

Most of my relocation clients start out just exploring the idea of coming to town. Some choose to come, some don?t. What I offer to help with the?exploratory?phase is an education tour. I like to think you get two from me through this process.

2. No pressure

To set up a successful tour I like to start with a phone conversation. It?s important for me to get to know you a bit, to hear your wants, needs and sort out your priorities in my head. I?ll also want to block out time on my?calendar?for the day you want to explore Central Austin homes.

As we get closer to your arrival date I?ll start building your education tour and of course I?ll want to include homes that you really like (at least on-line). The trick to a really good education tour is giving you a good taste of several neighborhoods and limiting the number of homes to be looked at to about 10. You might pick all 10, I might or it might be a collaborative effort. Whatever works.

Why limit it to 10? It doesn?t have to be limited to 10 but it?s a good number to keep it at for a couple of reasons.

1. I want you to be able to actually remember some of the homes. Odds are good even at 10 some of the homes will start running together when you go to play the trip back in your mind and same for the neighborhoods and
2. I want to keep the focus on giving you a taste of Austin not sell you a home.

Of course I?ll be glad to sell you a home but that isn?t the focus of this trip, right? A buying trip ?is a much more intensive and methodical process that requires more preparation time. That intensive preparation might add some degree of pressure and while your exploring I want to keep it light. Remember when I said I want you to get your answers and have no pressure ? I meant it. This is a really important part of your search.

So anyway, that?s how I do it.
