January is prime planning time for spring and summer weddings. Thousands of brides and grooms will pack the Washington State Convention Center this weekend for the Seattle Wedding Show, featuring over 400 vendors.? The event will showcase everything from wedding design, to flower arrangements and designer gowns.

When picking a gown experts say it is best to look at everything.
?
"Be open-minded. You will never believe what you will come out of the store with. You go in thinking you'll be in a straight dress and you come out with a beautiful ball gown like this," said Sonia Pamboukas, consultant at Marcella's La Boutique.
?
When thinking about the overall theme of your wedding, designer John Gardner says it is best to start by picking colors.
"Zero in on a color scheme, then next come up with an overall concept. It could be vintage, Hollywood glamour, or garden party, whatever your theme for your wedding is going to be," said Gardner, owner of Aria Style.
?
As far as stretching the budget, experts say it is smart to serve cupcakes instead of cake.
?
"If you want to save some money, get a smaller decorated cake and then get a serving cake on the side, that is scored so they can easily cut it, and serve that to your guests. That's a great way to save money," said Steve Lemke, bakery merchandiser for Safeway.
?
The Seattle Wedding Show goes January 7th and 8th at the Washington State Convention Center.
